Rabbi Erica Asch received her rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati in 2008. A native of Coronado, California, graduated from Oberlin College with honors. After graduation, she taught high school math in the Mississippi Delta as a member of Teach For America. After rabbinical school she took a position as a community organizer with the Industrial Areas Foundation, the first rabbi to do so directly out of rabbinical school. In that capacity she helped bring three Washington, DC area synagogues into organizing networks, organized a campaign to bring better senior programming to community centers and has trained synagogue and non-profit leaders in the tools of organizing. She currently serves as the Rabbi of Temple Beth El in Augusta, Maine.
