Martha is an attorney and mediator who specializes in clergy employment contract negotiations. She has practiced law, in both Washington and New York, with a concentration in business litigation. In addition, Martha has served as the Director of Synagogue-Federation Relations at the Jewish Federation in Atlanta and as Director of Development for Jewish Family & Life in Newton, Massachusetts. Martha received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, a Masters in Jewish Studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and a B.A. from Vassar College.
In her roles as consultant, coach, trainer and negotiator, Martha cares most about preserving and enhancing the clergy-congregation relationship, and helping clergy lead their communities from a position of strength and confidence. With rabbis in her immediate and extended family, she understands the role both personally and professionally. Martha uses humor, warmth, knowledge of congregational life and negotiation skills to pursue, and help her clients pursue, solutions that are positive for all parties.
